Boating
on the Lake
Boating
on the Lake is open to the public as long as the watercraft
is less than 26' and has a valid Lake Use Permit. Permissible
uses include water skiing, sailing, fishing, personal
watercraft, float tubes, kayaking, canoeing and sailboarding.
Two public launches are free. Boat and other watercraft
rentals are available at numerous sites around the
lake. Boating is under the jurisdiction of the Big
Bear Municipal Water District.
Swimming,
Waterskiing
Swimming
is permitted within 50 feet of the shoreline unless
otherwise posted. Waterskiing is permitted between
7 AM and sunset.

Arrowhead
Please
note that boat launching is prohibited by any persons
other than members of the Arrowhead Lake Association.

Gregory

Lake
Gregory is administered by the San Bernardino
Regional Parks Department. Access to the Lake is
via either Highway 38 or Highway 18. Weather forecasts
for the Lake area can be obtained from 909-338-3700
or from the local office: P.O.Box 656, Crestline,
CA 92325. Nominal usage fees and discounted seasonal
passes can be purchased at the site. Fishing is free
year-round.
The
recreational sites include restrooms, public phones,
and a snack bar. Note: All dogs must be on a leash.
Swimming
/ Water Sports
The
facilities include beaches for swimming with lifeguards
on duty during the summer. There are also options for
aqua cycles, paddleboats, and surfboards as well as
two 300' water slides. Sabot sailboats and windsurfing
are also available during the season.
Covered
picnic tables and BBQ's are available on the South
Shore of the lake. Camp Switzerland, located in a shady
canyon beside a bubbling stream just across from Lake
Gregory, offers forty camp and trailer sites for visitors.
Boating
Rowboats,
and sailboats are available for rent during the warm
season (April to October). No gas boats. You can bring
a float tube for a small launch fee.
Other
Activities
The
Lake area also offers sand volleyball, basketball,
horseshoe pits, and picnic areas. Horse and pony rentals
available from private vendors. Numerous hiking trails
in the area. A 3-mile hiking path around the Lake offers
walkers and joggers eight fitness stations.
Covered

canyon across from Lake Gregory, offers forty camp
and trailer sites.Parties needing conference and banquet
rooms can make arrangements
with the Park's San
Moritz Lodge.

Silverwood

Silverwood
Lake State Recreational Area is managed by California
State Parks. Usage fees are charged per car at
the park entrance. Additional fee is charged for boat
launching.
The
lake has swim beaches and water ski options. Float
tubes can be rented.
Boat
rentals are available as well as launching facilities
for private boats and jet skies. Usage fees are charged
per car at the park entrance with an extra fee for
boat launching.
Picnic
grounds and food concessions are on the site. Several
of the picnic areas are accessible only by boat. There
are also 136 sites for camping and RV facilities as
well as a group camping site.
