The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is Big Bear’s four-season playground for all ages. There are so many fun activities to choose from, the only problem is getting the kids to decide what they want to do next.
The signature attraction is the Alpine Slide. Probably the closest you’ll ever get to riding a bobsled in Switzerland, the Alpine Slide is an adventure your family will never forget. After riding a gently moving converted chairlift, with incredible views, to the top of the mountain, riders navigate their own individually controlled sleds, each with Teflon runners and ball bearing wheels, down their choice of two quarter-mile long cement tracks filled with high-banked turns and long straightaways. The Alpine Slide is open year ‘round and no trip to Big Bear is complete without a slide down this twisting and turning thrill ride.
In the wintertime, the snow tubing hill is the place to be. Natural snow and snowmaking systems ensure there is always snow for tubing and this is one of the most user-friendly snow play hills in Big Bear. Instead of hiking to the top of the hill after every decent, guests ride the “Magic Carpet”, a Plexiglas covered conveyor belt lift that gently brings you back uphill. The owners have recently increased their snowmaking capabilities by 25 %, mainly to open more runs earlier in the season.
During the warmer months, the waterslide is the coolest place in town. Two side-by-side waterslides zip you through turns and dips and deposit you in a shallow heated pool next to a large sun deck. As if that wasn’t enough, the Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain also features go-carts with 5.5 horsepower Honda motors, an 18 hole miniature golf course complete with breaking greens and water hazards, and an arcade with pinball and video games.
The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is located on the west end of Big Bear at 800 Wildrose Lane and the local telephone number is (909) 866-4626.
